Two killed in early morning robbery in Nigerian commercial capital
two people were killed in an early morning robbery attack in Nigeria's commercial capital Laogs on Saturday.
Eye witnesses said that the robbery gang, numbering about 30 and armed with sophisticated weapons, moved from house to house in Shogunle near Ikeja, terrorizing and dispossessing people of their valuables.
"The robbers came in six commercial buses, one jeep and some motorcycles. Some fired sporadically while others broke into people's homes and carted off valuables," one of the witnesses said.
According to a witness who declined to be named, people in the compound scampered to safety when the robbers invaded the house.
The witness explained that Sarah, a 12-year old student, was killed by the robbers, adding that the corpse had been taken away for burial by members of her family. At 19, Tuwalade Street, where the second person was killed, the body of the man was still in a pool of his blood in his room when local police visited.
Some of the residents of the area said that the robbers operated for about four hours.
