An American woman cut off her 3 Months-old son´s penis

A US woman who cut off her three-month-old son's penis then told police he had been attacked by a dog appeared in court yesterday.

Katherine Nadal only spoke briefly during her appearance and prosecutors said they still don't have a motive for the attack.

Police say Nadal used a "sharp instrument to cut and remove the genitals" of her son Holden Gothia, who was five weeks old at the time, in her suburban Houston apartment. The severed body parts were never found.

Nadal claimed the family dog, a dachshund named Shorty, attacked her son. But a doctor and a veterinarian told authorities Holden's injuries couldn't have been caused by a dog.

Nadal was arrested on Friday as she waited for a hearing on the custody status of the boy. She was charged with injury to a child and held under a $100,000 bond.
