Jealous shuts sense of reasoning

Jealous Policewoman Slashes Rival's Face With Razor Blade

The aphorism, hell hath no fury than a woman scorned, was amply demonstrated at the Area 'F' Police Divisional Headquarters, Ikeja, when a jealous policewoman, Constable Maria Stephen, slashed the face of her rival, Peace Braimoh, whom she accused of snatching her boyfriend. P.M.News gathered that the matter, which is currently generating furore at the station, has pitched some senior police officers against one another.

While some officers are calling for outright dismissal of the policewoman from the Force, others are seeking a soft landing for her under the guise of esprit de corps.

There are also those insisting that she should be prosecuted in court for assault after dismissal for attacking another woman in front of the police counter.

P.M.News investigations revealed that trouble started when Peace lodged a complaint at the Area ‘F’ Police Station, accusing Constable Maria Stephen, serving at Mosafejo Police Station, Oshodi of destroying items in her shop.

Before the matter got to the station, it was learnt that both Peace and Maria had engaged in a fierce struggle to win the heart of a police officer serving at the State Police Command.

Sources at Area ‘F’ told P.M.News that the male officer and Maria were lovers before but the love turned sour, forcing the officer to dump the constable for Peace Braimoh.

This did not, however, go down well with Maria who fought tooth and nail to win the heart of her lover back. After she failed to win him back, she reportedly turned nasty, deflated his car tyres on one occasion and later destroyed the windscreen.

Not satisfied with this, she moved to the shop of her rival, Peace, and destroyed her goods.

Following this, the matter was reported at Area ‘F’ Police Station where both parties were invited for interrogation.

P.M.News gathered that as the investigating police officer was taking statement from Peace, the jilted police constable went out, bought a razor blade, came back and before the complainant knew what was happening, she had slashed her face with the new razor.

The police constable, it was learnt, was promptly arrested.

But sources claimed that some officers are trying to cover up the matter by ensuring that the culprit was not punished.

Meanwhile, the victim is currently receiving treatment at the Ikeja General Hospital.
