Biafra formed a provisional government

MASSOB Forms Provisional Government

From EVEREST EZIHE, Owerri

In utter defiance to the federal government’s order and despite the incarceration of Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, the leader of Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), the freedom fighting group has formed a provisional government saying it is in line with the directives cum authority of United Nations Charter and a mandate from Biafra Charter signed on 30th May 2007, 40 years after the maiden declaration of Biafra by Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu.
In a press statement issued by Mazi Chris Mocha, a personal assistant to the MASSOB leader on media matters and made available to National Mirror, MASSOB said that the Biafra Provisional Government (BPG) which has been inaugurated would continued to exist until the people of Biafra enclave have been fully liberated from Nigeria’s territorial occupation.
Mocha said that the BPG has been constituted of two arms of government known as Biafra Government in Exile (BGIE) which is government of Biafrans based outside the Biafra territory and Biafra Shadow Government (BSG) which is a Biafra government for people living within the Biafran territory.
He enjoined all Biafrans to always tune to Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) every Friday at 9pm transmitting on 15.67 MHz equivalent to 19-meter band for further directives.
The MOSSAB chieftain further said that immediately after the full liberation of Biafrans from the Nigerian territory and governance, the BPG would transform to Transitional Government of Biafra (TGB) during which the liberated nation's (Biafra) socio-political and civic structures would be put in place. A period, he said, would not exceed four years and at the conclusion of the period, that the TGB shall, unconditionally, cease to exist, and shall be replaced by a duly constituted government of Biafra, following constitutional conference.
To demonstrate their seriousness, Mocha said that the Nation of Biafra as well as United Nations have endorsed their liberation and freedom fighting charter which states inter-alia:
That the people of the Federation of Biafra have resolved to actualize, renew, re-affirm and continue with the declaration of Biafra independence as announced on 30th May 1967 with all the implication thereof.
That in re-affirming the independence of Biafra, the people and nation of Biafra make neither war, nor peace, with the state or peoples of Nigeria rather we exercise a natural right, a popular right, a political right, and a right supported by United Nations Organization charter and international laws-the right of self determination.
The charter further stated that in the certain realization that only the effective exercise of self-determination by the peoples and nation of Biafra will end the state of occupation and subjugation by Nigeria of Biafra.
Ironically, the press statement did not name the leaders of the provisional government as well as their administrative headquarters.
Moreso, the formation of the parallel government could jeopardized the efforts of eminent Nigerians who are fighting doggedly to ensure the release of Chief Uwazuruike whose mother Ezinne Monica died three months ago and she is yet to be buried as the MOSSAB leader is her only son and their custom and tradition demands that he must personally perform the burial rites.
