Plans of a 22-year old lady, who planted cocaine in her private part and hair wig for onward export to Italy were aborted by narcotic officers attached to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos as she was nabbed on the verge of boarding Alitalia to Venice.
According to the Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), MMIA, Mr. Victor Cole-Showers, the suspect, Edo State-born Ngozi Emeka was nabbed with 1.375kg of cocaine which she perfectly shared into two parts, concealing some in her private part and some in her wig. Cole-Showers pointed out that the drug courier perfected her ploy to deceive security operatives but for the eagle-eyed narcotic officers that fished her out from the crowd.
Ngozi Emeka is the second drug courier this year to conceal the hard drug in her private part. The first person was another Edo-State born housewife, Mrs Odamah Angela, who was arrested on March 10, 2007 at the same airport.
In the same vein, the command also arrested one Ogiesoba Johnbull, who not only ingested some yet-to-be determined quantity of cocaine but also had 20 wraps of the drug concealed in his pocket. The 33-year-old Edo-State born courier, according to the NDLEA Commander, has begun the excretion of the hard drug and has since been kept under close monitoring to ensure he completely excretes all the evil drugs he had swallowed.
Also, one Umeh Benjamin Ejike of Aba, Abia State was arrested yesterday at the same airport while attempting to export hard drugs to china through the Southern China airline. He is 40 years old.
The commander said his men are fully aware of the new methods being deployed by drug couriers to decieve narcotic officers, stressing that the command will do its very best in the ongoing war against drug trafficking that appears to be the rule than the exception.
He said the three couriers are cooling off at the NDLEA office and will provide useful statements that will lead to the unearthing of their agents. He further said they will be charged to court once the command is through with investigations concerning them.
